The pros: That mushroom pie is insane. Surprisingly when I did my secret visit to see if they were worth featuring, I ordered the mushroom pizza because I was like wth is persillade . When I reached out to the owner afterward, he also mentioned it was his favorite. The creamy delicious cheese, hefty mushrooms, and that g'damn post bake persillade w/ fresh onions. That was, as the locals call it, smack.
The cons: With the Bay Area being the pizza force that it is, there is no shortage of great dough. That’s where I think Philomena’s In Oakland could level up. It was good, but lacked that complexity that I crave. For most people, they probably wouldn’t notice.
Overall: The bake was beautiful. Great color. Crisp texture. The winning combination of this mushroom pie is something you should try for yourself.
